Silicone is recognised in international scar management guidelines as the gold standard in topical scar care, and its benefits depend on prolonged, consistent wear, for many hours a day, over many months.

Most standard silicone strips are solid sheets that seal warmth and excess moisture against the skin throughout wear. Clinical literature has long recognised the consequences: itching, irritation and skin softened by excess trapped moisture, the very discomforts that make consistent wear so difficult to sustain. In one clinical study of women using a silicone sheet after a C-section, nearly one in two reported itching.

As the innovators behind Australia's first breathable silver nursing cup system and our suction-free, dual purpose breathable milk collectors, breathability has always been at the heart of how we care for the maternal body. Caesarean scar recovery deserved the same attention and consideration, so we redesigned the standard scar strip from the ground up.

Our precision Y-shaped micro-perforation is designed to retain the semi-occlusive seal silicone therapy relies on, while allowing excess moisture vapour to escape. Independently tested side by side with a standard solid silicone strip, the Womb to World™ Patch released 40% more moisture vapour.

Where many standard strips are 2mm thick and often visible under clothing, the Patch is just over half a millimetre thin, soft and flexible, moving with the body like a second skin and sitting discreetly beneath clothing. Each box holds up to three months of care.

Developed alongside the Womb to World™ Protocol, created in collaboration with a women's health physiotherapist, the Patch forms the first active phase of a complete, evidence-informed approach to Caesarean scar recovery.

Begin from two to three weeks postpartum, once your midwife, GP or obstetrician has confirmed the incision is fully closed and dry.

1. Prepare: Wash your hands. Ensure the scar area is clean and thoroughly dry.
2. Peel: Remove the strip from its foil sleeve and peel away the protective film from the centre.
3. Apply: Place the adhesive side directly over the scar and smooth gently along its full length for 10 to 15 seconds to ensure complete contact.
4. Wear: Begin with 6 to 8 hours a day, increasing gradually to 12 to 23 hours a day as comfort allows. Remove before bathing, showering or swimming.
5. Care: Wash the strip daily, sticky side up on your Womb to World™ Slate, then allow it to air dry completely. Rest it sticky side down on the Slate between wears, and reapply to clean, dry skin.

Recommended duration: New scars, a minimum of 3 months. Existing scars, 6 months or more.

Within the Womb to World™ Protocol: Once your care provider has cleared your scar for massage, remove the Patch for your daily Nectar massage, then reapply to clean, dry skin. From 12 weeks, with clearance, the Dome joins your morning ritual, and the Patch is worn from evening through the night, for 12 to 23 hours a day. Never apply the Nectar, or any other topical product, beneath the Patch.

Note: If the strip begins to lift at the edges, do not press it back down. Remove, rinse, dry and reapply. A well-placed strip with full contact will serve your scar better than a lifted one worn for longer. In warm weather or during activity, adhesion may soften sooner, so reapply more often and build wear time gradually.

The Patch is self-adhesive by design. Its gentle hold comes from a soft skin silicone adhesive gel, formed from a two-part, addition-cured silicone system and bonded to a fine silicone film backing. Silicone forms every layer you wear, so only silicone touches your scar.

Main components: Silicone polymers and fumed silica, a reinforcing filler widely used in silicone elastomers.

Latex free. No added acrylic or rubber-based adhesives.

For external use only. Use only on fully closed, healed skin. Do not use on open, broken, scabbed or infected wounds. Do not apply over creams, ointments or lotions. Do not use if you have a known sensitivity to silicone. If redness, irritation, itching or a rash develops beneath the strip, remove it and allow the skin to rest for 24 to 48 hours before reintroducing. If it persists, discontinue use and consult your healthcare provider. All scars are different and results will vary.
